Dan Canalos – (1974)

 

As a bantamweight, Danny Canalos participated in 45 bouts during his boxing career, winning the Lorain Golden Gloves open division title in 1938.

Canalos went on to win five bouts and advanced to the finals of the Cleveland Golden Gloves championship.

Dan was a member of the 1938 Cleveland Golden Gloves team and competed in the Tournament of Champions in Chicago. He later competed in the National AAU Tournament in Boston.

Dan Canalos is the AAU Commissioner for Lorain and Erie Counties and has served as a judge and referee in boxing for many years.

Canalos’ civic responsibilities are considerable. He served the community as a past president of the Jaycees, past president of the Lorain City Club and past president of the Lorain Chamber of Commerce.

Canalos is president-manager of George Canalos Inc. of Lorain, Sandusky and Mansfield, Ohio. He is a member of the Lorain Port Authority.
