VINCENT GLORIOSO
Inducted April 21, 1982
Despite his diminutive stature, he anchored the line for Coach Earl McCaskey’s sterling Lorain High football teams of 1926-28, and later achieved All-League recognition as a center for John Carroll University.
In 1928 he was selected as the All-Lake Erie League center, and among his teammates on that strong Lorain High School squad were Hall-of-Famers Frank “Bozo” Ursic, Carl Hageman, Stan Pincura and John Pincura. Other team members included Jim Romoser, Antone Ujhelyi, Bill Andorka, Chuck Urbanic, Tommy Giasomo and Jim Chaszar.
Glorioso attended John Carroll University, and became a bulwark at the center position for the Blue Streaks from 1931-34. Chosen for the All-Big Four League squad – which was comprised of the best players from Carroll, Western Reserve, Baldwin-Wallace and Case – he played both ways and was known for his aggressive, steady performance.
He was the second Lorain player to receive all-league honors, joining former Lorain High School great Eddie Bahoric of Baldwin-Wallace who had been named the previous season.
Mr. Glorioso returned to the Lorain area upon graduation, and in 1936 served as basketball coach at Lorain St. Mary’s High School. Later he was employed as Attendance Officer for the Lorain City School District.
