Excelled in football at three high schools, including Lorain Senior.
Named Most Valuable Player of unbeaten 1931 Geneva College football team, coached by the late, great Bo McMillin.
Spent 13 years as player or assistant coach with McMillin, including Bo’s 1945 Indiana team, Big 10 champs.
Assistant coach with Cleveland Browns, 1950 World champs; University of Pennsylvania, 1959 Ivy League champs.
Assisted Denison, U.S. Navy grid programs, Detroit Lions, North Carolina State, Washington Redskins, and in three college all-star games.
In his 16th year in the National Football League; the last seven as Washington Redskins’ director of player personnel.
