John “Big John” Willis – (1971)

 

JOHN (Big John) WILLIS

Garnered eight letters in three sports at Lorain High, with football
his forte. A triple-threat, his grid feats are legendary as a running back,
passer and kicker. For many years he was sole holder of LHS shot put,
discus (college-size) and javelin records. Gained All-Ohio grid status
with unbeaten 1939 LHS team. Played college football for two years at
Baldwin-Wallace. His coach considered him The All-Time Great Lorain
High Athlete.
