John Skolnicki – (1975)

John played basketball for Lorain
High School in 1940-41 and was the
Lake Erie League scoring champ for
both seasons.

As a player in the National Softball
League from 1946-50, he was an all-
star pitcher.

John set a new scoring mark in
basketball at Lorain High by the time
he was a senior—251 points. He was
an All-Lake Erie League choice both
his junior and senior years. John
gained All-Ohio status in 1941.

He played amateur baseball at age
17 as a first baseman with Lorain
Pulaskis in Class A. Skolnicki was later an impressive pitcher for the
Czarniecki Club team and a super star of the National Softball League.
The year he played with Yepko Meats he went to the state softball
tourney and lost a 1-0 no-hitter. As a distinguished hitter, he hit the
ball solidly and with great power.
