It's nomination time for the LSHOF enshrinement

Sept. 30th is the deadline for nominating City of Lorain athletes you think are worthy of induction into the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame. The nomination form is comprehensive and takes time to complete, so don’t wait! You can find eligibility rules and links to download nomination forms below on this page. The next enshrinement banquet will take place on May 8th, 2027.

A nominee must qualify under one of the following guidelines.

Lorainites and others who attended a public or private high school within Lorain city limits and achieved sports fame there or at another sports level. Recognized schools: Lorain Senior, Admiral King, Southview, St. Mary, Lorain Catholic, Clearview, North Coast Christian.

Achieved fame after moving to Lorain

Lorainites who don't qualify under 1 or 2 above, but achieved fame at some sports level after taking up residence in Lorain, and continued residing there for at least 10 years at time of selection.

Eligibility requirements

Every nominee, regardless of category, must also meet these guidelines.

Open To ALL

No restrictions related to education, religion, sex, race, or nationality.

Age

Nominee must be at least 35 by Dec. 31 of the application year (or would have been, if deceased).

All sports count

Baseball, basketball, football, bowling, boxing, golf, hockey, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, wrestling and more.

Recognized achievement

Must have gained sufficient local, state, national or international recognition to be a respected nomination.

Good moral character

Applicant must have a good record of continuous good moral character.

Official form only

Submissions accepted year-round, but only forms received by Sept. 30 are judged for that year’s class.
