JOE DOMINGUEZ

In the Dominguez family, bowling was a family sport. So, it was only natural that as a 10-year-old boy, Joe would be introduced to the sport by his father, Joe Sr.

Joe excelled as a junior bowler at North Coast Shoreway Lanes and represented the Lorain AJBC in the Ohio State Junior Bowling Association from 1981 through 1983. Here he learned great fundamentals that would propel him well into adulthood.

In his first year as an adult bowler, he averaged 189. With bowling in his veins, Joe went on to become a Lorain Bowling Association Advisor in 1991 and served as Executive Director from 1996-1999. In 1997, joining Brett Locher, Joe made bowling his business by co-owning North Coast Shoreway Lanes.  Joe’s achievements over the decades are many. He has achieved 16-800 series with highs of 877 and 858 in addition to 24 perfect game 300’s to his name. He boasts an impressive 204 lifetime average with a high
league average of 228 on five occasions.

Tournaments were also a place where Joe shined. He was a member of the 2001 LBA City Tournament Team HCP champions as well as the doubles actual champion with partner Jeremy Duly. Joe was a member of the LBA team Actual Champion in 2005 and 2006 as well. Joe is also a three-time winner of the County Roll-Off Tournament Team in 1996, 2001, and 2006. In 2008 Joe was the LBA City Tournament All Events Champion, earning the Sheriff Smith Memorial Trophy.

Finally, Joe was a member of the North Coast Shoreway Lanes team that won the LBA team actual title in 2021 and the Ohio USBC actual state championships in 2009 and 2013, competing against 1,400 other teams.

Joe later became an accomplished coach at Clearview High School from 2016-2022. His Boys team won the division championship in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and he coached two boys and two girls to individual state finals.
