Dr. Andrew Nemecek – (1973)

 

One of finest all-around athletes in Lorain High history, earning varsity letters in football (3), track (2) and basketball (1).
Earned three letters in each sport at Ohio State University (1917, ’19 and ’20), serving in the U.S. Army in 1918.
All-American grid center in football Buckeyes’ captain oin basketball and accomplished weightsman at 212 pounds in track.
Played against California in 1921 Rose Bowl; named to Ohio State’s All-Time grid team in 1927.
Recipient of the Big 10 Medal in 1921 for athletic and academic excellence; assistant football coach at OSU.
Standout with the Columbus Tigers pro football team (an NFL forerunner) and Columbus Kinners pro cage club; also coached Tigers.
Graduated from school of medicine in 1926; had rewarding career as a general surgeon.
